In 1998, Lloyd Vogel, a cynical Esquire journalist, is assigned to write a profile of beloved children’s television host Fred Rogers. Initially dismissive, Lloyd travels to Pittsburgh to interview Rogers, who shows genuine concern for Lloyd’s personal struggles, particularly his estranged relationship with his father. Through their conversations, Rogers teaches Lloyd about forgiveness, empathy, and the power of kindness, ultimately transforming his outlook on life.
