Class of 83, based on a book by crime journalist Hussain Zaidi, is set in 1980s Bombay when the underworld’s grip on the city was tightening. Jobless young men were lured into gangs, and the police struggled due to political-criminal nexus. The film follows upright officer Vijay Singh (Bobby Deol), who is punished and made dean of a police training center. He handpicks bold young officers and trains them to bend the law for the greater good, turning them into encounter specialists. Inspired by real accounts, the story shows their strategic hits, but soon delves into a predictable narrative of ego, corruption, and redemption.
