Professor Joymohan lives alone in Kolkata. After suffering a severe heart attack on his birthday, he realizes he must spend as much time as possible with his family in Mumbai. He travels to Mumbai to stay with his son Indra, daughter-in-law Rita, and granddaughter Gargi. While Indra and Gargi are delighted by his arrival, Rita is unhappy and vocal about her displeasure. Joymohan begins taking morning walks to a nearby park, where he meets his former student Neelima and her daughter Anjali, who plans to pursue a doctorate in the US.
