John and Summer, an American couple struggling with infertility, travel to Rajasthan in search of a surrogate mother. They meet Mimi, a local dancer, and believe she is the perfect candidate. With the help of local taxi driver Bhanu, they convince Mimi to become their surrogate for ₹20 lakhs. Mimi, who dreams of Bollywood stardom but lacks the funds to pursue it, agrees after some hesitation. The IVF procedure succeeds, and Mimi becomes pregnant. To hide the pregnancy from her parents, she tells them she is going to Mumbai for nine months to shoot a film. She moves in with her friend Shama, while John and Summer ask Bhanu to care for Mimi during her pregnancy.
